I’ve been a featured artist with Cambridge Contemporary Art since 2003 —and in this time, my work has been in 20+ exhibitions.
The coastline at Holkham presents a painter's dream - a vast canvas of ever-changing light and space. Like my beloved East Head at West Wittering, at low tide the wet sand mirrors the sky, doubling the drama of Norfolk's famously big horizons and magnificent cloud formations. The dunes, backed by pine woods, provided a perfect natural frame, while the interplay of light on the shallow lagoons created a quality that shifted moment to moment.
Unlike many coastal scenes, Holkham offers pure, uninterrupted views where sea meets sky. This natural minimalism allowed me to focus on the subtleties of colour and light that defines each moment, whether it's the golden hour when the sun breaks through, or the misty mornings when the beach seems to stretch into infinity.
My family joined me on the study trip for this series; which makes it even more special and personal.
