Spring Light: Late Afternoon in the Dunes at East Head
Spring Light: Late Afternoon in the Dunes at East Head
East Head's dunes have been a constant source of inspiration in my work, and this piece captures a moment I've spent years learning to paint - that magical late afternoon light. The interplay of sun and shadow across the marram grass creates a rhythm through the dunes, while the Isle of Wight sits quietly on the horizon, wrapped in spring haze.
I've focused particularly on how the afternoon light transforms the landscape, casting long shadows from the beach grasses and bathing everything in those characteristic spring colors that dance between silver, gold, and soft blues.
This elongated canvas (31 x 122 cm) allows me to capture the sweeping panorama that makes this view so captivating.
