East Head to the South Downs II
East Head to the South Downs II
East Head is a stunning beach to walk around, the spit at the end of the Witterings.
This particular painting is looking at the South Downs and the tip of East Head with Thorney Island behind.
To say I am slightly obsessed with this beach is an understatement. For me capturing the light and colours and that particular moment on the canvas is vital for the painting to work. I have to take the viewer not only to the place but almost be able to experience that moment and those particular emotions.
Places trigger emotions, places trigger memories, places trigger all sorts of feelings in the audience.
My intention is to create a clear understanding with the use of mediums to create a visual experience.
This painting reflects this completely for me. The water and the tide is in constant flux, and the light catches on the water. A landscape in not still, a landscape has energy, colour, noise, vibrancy, movement and drama.
